About Your College Adviser
My name is Christine Marie E. Quilpa, and I am a 2012 graduate of the University of Virginia's College of Arts and Sciences, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Asian Pacific American Studies. I was born in Seattle, WA, but grew up in Hampton Roads, VA.
I am extremely passionate about working with young people to help them realize their goals and dreams. During my time at UVA, I was involved in various service and advising organizations. As an Adviser for Peer Advising Family Network, I helped Asian/Asian Pacific American freshmen and transfer students transition into and navigate through college. As a Big Sister and Facilitator for the Young Women Leaders Program, I mentored at-risk middle school girls to have more confidence in themselves to prepare for high school, college, and beyond. And as a Community Chair for the Organization of Young Filipino Americans, I organized fundraising events for the HeCares Foundation and Pens of Hope to support the education of poverty-stricken children in Metro Manila and Mapanas, Philippines.
In short, working with young people has always been near and dear to my heart so once I heard about the Virginia College Advising Corps, I knew I was called to serve to help young people plan for successful futures. I am very excited to be your College Adviser at George Washington High School!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, my office is located in Guidance or you may contact me here directly. Thank you so much, and I look forward to working with you this year!
